The first time I saw this movie, I hated it, but I've changed my mind; I even have the DVD. I think it's just startling to see some of the scenes the first time around, and I'd have to say that in most cases you see far more than you need to see; it goes a little overboard and is very explicit. In any case, this movie is not for the light of heart, but I believe it to be a decent depiction of real events (even though some of the characters are fictional) that happened in the late 70's to early 80's at Studio 54.
What makes this movie so great is how well the soundtrack fits the movie, better than I've ever heard. Stunning visual effects; you really feel like you're there. And the cast is terrific. Especially Mike Myers - he proves that his ability to act isn't limited to one genre. Sometimes I still can't believe that's him playing Steve Rubell. Anyway, I originally gave this movie a "C", but I feel it deserves at least a "B".
